Goal Of The Role

Own and improve our reliable, scalable data and ML infrastructure that powers better recommendations, smarter decisions and a safer, better user experience. Youll turn raw data into production-ready pipelines and ML+AI models that directly improve match accuracy, user retention and team efficiency across the company.

Key Result Areas

• Design, implement and maintain scalable data infrastructure:
• Build and optimize ETL pipelines to ensure high-performance and scalable data processing.
• Extend automation and testing capabilities for fault-tolerant and scalable systems.
• Collaborate with engineers to build out a scalable data infrastructure that acts as a single source of truth.
• Deliver clean and accessible data to unlock advanced insights:
• Enable colleagues to carry out advanced analytics to drive data-informed decision-making by supporting the underlying data engineering needs.
• Develop and deploy machine learning models to enhance personalization, optimize recommendations, and improve operational efficiency.
• Optimize our recommender system to drive a better user experience:
• Improve matching algorithms to connect users more effectively and drive engagement.
• Leverage various predictive modeling techniques to maximize user experience through better matching and personalization.
• Apply ML and AI to power personalisation, safety and automation:
• Identify automation opportunities within acquisition and screening to increase operational efficiency and reduce costs.
• Utilize computer vision, NLP, and machine learning for automated detection of scam and fake profiles, rude and inappropriate behaviour in conversations, etc
• Drive the vision for how data, ML and AI can Improve the UX and business:
• Define and implement a strategic roadmap for scaling data engineering and data science efforts.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, marketing, and other teams to unlock operational capabilities.

Requirements

What will help you be successful

• Educational background in a STEM field (e.g. Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science)
• 35+ years of professional experience in Python development, preferably within data or ML engineering roles
• Strong experience with ETL frameworks and data orchestration tools (e.g. Dagster, dbt)
• Proficiency with data warehousing platforms (e.g. Snowflake)
• Hands-on experience with AWS services (e.g. S3, Lambda, ECS, SageMaker, OpenSearch)
• Strong SQL skills and experience designing data models for analytics and ML workflows
• Experience deploying ML models in production and monitoring performance
• Bonus: experience with recommender systems
• Experience working in cross-functional teams and collaborating with non-technical stakeholders
• Team player who enjoys working with others
• Strategic Thinking: Connects business goals with data solutions
• Initiative & Ownership: a self starter who owns projects from start to finish
• Adaptability: Open to learning, experimenting and improving continuously
